The NECA Conference 2024 will be held in Hobart, Tasmania. Tasmania is famous for its natural beauty and fresh outdoor spaces and offering superb food and wine experiences. Hobart is framed by Mount Wellington and the River Derwent with so much to see on land and sea. There’s plenty to experience at any pace you prefer – from adventure options of hiking, biking, kayaking and more or take it easy at a number of wine, beer or spirit tasting places.
Flights into Hobart are frequent from all Australian and New Zealand’s main centres. This is peak season so we recommend you book as soon as possible.
Our conference venue and accommodation properties are close to the Hobart Harbour at Constitution Dock, which is approximately a 15 minute drive from the airport taking you over the Tasman Bridge over the River Derwent. The NECA Conference 2024 will be held at the PW1 and accommodation is available at a range of surrounding properties. A variety of optional tours are available on the free day of Sunday 24 March.
The city is framed by the rugged figure of kunanyi / Mount Wellington and the flow of the wide River Derwent, with wilderness lingering nearby – just beyond the mountain.
Beyond mountain and river, it’s cultural and dining experiences that thrive in Australia's second-oldest city. The underground Museum of Old and New Art (Mona), looms large in global art circles and on the itineraries of scores of travellers.
The famed Salamanca Market has been a Saturday tradition for more than 50 years, and the city’s food scene is dynamic, with cafes, restaurants and bars transforming Tasmania’s famously fresh produce into refined expressions of place and season.
See Hobart from the water, or on foot around the waterfront, or even from the saddle of a bike on a mountain descent. Taste wine at urban wineries, and when the day is almost done, sip a whisky beside a dinosaur fossil, or settle into a cosy bar inside the walls of a 19th-century hospital.
Temperatures in March sit around 20° Celsius during the day with low’s of 11° Celsius making it a pleasant place to be active but necessary to bring light weight winter options.
